Beer in Germany

The favorite drink of Germany remains beer, as it forms an important part of its culture. The “Reinheitsgebot” is a set of rules which ensures the quality of the German beer.
There is a wide variety of beer produced in Germany, with around 5000 breweries at its disposal.
The Altbier is a traditional beer in and around Niederrhein and Dusseldorf. It consists of darker malts and top fermented yeast.
The Berliner Weisse is the popular beer in Berlin.
Then there is the strong Bock which comes from the Hanseatic town.
Other popular types of beer in the different regions of Germany are Kolsch, Marzen, Pils, Schwarzbier and Weizenbier.
